About MBNL

Mobile Broadband Network Limited (MBNL) is a 50/50 joint venture company owned by Three UK and Everything Everywhere (previously T-Mobile (UK)). MBNL was formed following the ground breaking network consolidation agreement that was completed on the 18th December 2007.
 
Between 2008 and October 2010 MBNL undertook the consolidation of the networks. Throughout this period, MBNL worked with our key suppliers, Ericsson, NSN and BT to deliver the largest consolidated network in the world . Throughout the consolidation project significant emphasis was placed on minimising customer disruption, and ensuring the capacity of the network grew in line with customer requirements. The network consolidation project has resulted in customers of Three UK and T-Mobile enjoying the best 3G coverage in the UK, By combining their 3G access networks (the mobile masts and infrastructure that connects to each operator's separate core network) Everything Everywhere and Three UK has created Europe's most extensive high-speed packet access (HSPA) network. It furthers both companies' joint commitment to deliver true mobile broadband internet access in addition to reliable voice and text services.
 
Having successfully delivered the consolidation project, MBNL is now responsible for managing the consolidated network of sites including the 2G and consolidated 3G radio access networks for Three UK and Everything Everywhere. We are also responsible for the delivery of all site upgrades to continuously improve the consolidated network. To cater for the huge growth in smartphone and mobile broadband usage we have embarked on a programme of expanding the network to provide even better coverage and even more capacity. To this end, we have already delivered industry leading upgrades that have enabled excellent data rates and service levels. This has been mainly achieved by the upgrade of the backhaul from our base stations to 100Mbps Ethernet. We are now rolling out Gigabit Ethernet backhaul services to our busiest sites with our key suppliers. The next stage of network integration culminating from the merger of T-Mobile (UK) and Orange UK into Everything Everywhere is being planned at present and will lead to even more coverage and capacity.
